Poste proposé : REGIONAL SENIOR BUYER

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

Education:

  • BAC +4 qualification in Supply Chain Management, Legal, Business, Commercial or equivalent.

Relevant experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Purchasing role in a remote mining environment.
  • Strong communication, organisation and personnel skills, strong analytical capabilities, sound business sense, advanced documentation skills with high attention to detail.
  • French / English language skills essential
  • Proficient in ERP systems and excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Experience in a third world country with a preference for West African experience, particularly Burkina Faso
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks
  • Possesses strong training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team
  • Demonstrates strong conceptual skills, and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions
  • Ability to respond to a changing work environment
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time
  • Excellent skill; negotiation, rigours, relational, leadership, polyvalent, autonomous
  • A reputation for integrity and ethics
Profil recherché pour le poste : REGIONAL SENIOR BUYER

Purpose

Reporting to the Group Procurement & Logistics Manager, the Senior Buyer is responsible for the timely, cost effective procurement and supply of the correct goods at the Regional Group level.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Purchasing:

·       Participate in the development of procurement strategy, prepare and issue documentation, manage the tender process (including evaluation) and assist in the completion of contract documents.

·       Proactively identify sourcing opportunities which match sites’ requirements.

·       Process submission and/or purchasing requests, ensure they comply with standards and needs as per quality, price and delivery period.

·       Select supplier(s) with regards requesters’ needs and specifications and suggest substitutes (when applicable), facilitate the operation of the tender committee (When applicable).

·       Utilize benchmarks for the monitoring of supplier performance and price variation.

·       Ensure the accuracy of Group purchase orders information and reporting to management any discrepancies.

·       Liaise with suppliers on the Group major commodities for stock availability and raise any delivery delay issues as they occur.

·       Develop tool to assess Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).

·       Ensure an audit trail of strategic sourcing activities is maintained.

·       Prepare weekly reports on group strategic sourcing status.

·       Develop with the support of all business unit and community social relation (CSR), a sustainable local procurement plan.

Staff Development:

·       Provide supervision, guidance, coaching and technical assistance and support to the team.

·       Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team to identify areas requiring improvement and implement training and coaching measures to ensure employees receive sufficient training enabling them to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner.

·       Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programs.

·       Conduct formal career development discussions with employees and identify development opportunities and programs that assist with defining future career progression possibilities.

·       Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments.

Safety Management:

·       Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.

·       Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.

·       Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures

·       Ensure hazard management plans are observed.

·       Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.
