Senior Underground Planning Engineer

The Senior Underground Planning Engineer will be responsible for economic analysis, mine design, development planning, outage optimization, short- and long-term planning, ventilation, rock mechanics and other underground requirements for our clients' assets.

Key Accountabilities :

• The Senior Underground Planning Engineer will:
• Provide technical support to all underground mines projects.
• Complete underground optimizations and mining designs.
• Development and implementation of planning schedules, cost estimates and evaluations for all projects.
• Contribute to the annual budget and life of mine plane of all operations at Mana.
• Carry out studies and supporting documents from screening to feasibility level.
• Liaison with site management and technical staff, including UG inspections if required.
• Manage contractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Plan, budget, communicate and coordinate to achieve established goals in a safe and efficient manner.
• Overview of month-end reporting process for underground production statistics.
• Coordinate all relevant production engineering work, including stop and ring designs.
• Ensure that all designs, memos, and instructions are issues on time and up to standard.
• Coordinate monthly outage reconciliations.
• Establish and maintain a mine planning system, using purpose-built software, to integrate geological resource models, survey data, optimized designs, productivity trends, mine recoveries, process to accurately and timely plan required mining sequences, development phases and production targets.
• Maintain compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001
• Ensure that all design and planning works comply with environmental policies.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience :

Education :

• Bac+3 (Bachelor of science) Mining engineering (or compatible) degree.

Relevant experience :

• At least seven years of experience in the planning, design, and operation of underground mines, of which at least 5 years in the field of planning
• Experience in various underground mechanized mining methods is essential.
• Advanced (expert) skills in 3D mine design and planning software (Datamine, Studio 5D, EP, Vulcan, Mine2-4D)
• Strong Microsoft Office computer skills.
• Demonstrated leadership capacity in a remote location and/or developing country.
