Mine Planning Manager

Responsibilities :

• Ensure rigorous, high-quality, commercially-optimised, practical, executable mine plans are always available on time for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual (including Life Of Mine) planning cycles in order to deliver continuous improvement in safety, quality and cost of ore delivered to the mill.
• Develop a team of high-performing, skilled, motivated and engaged professionals, including succession planning to replace expatriate personnel within the team over time.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (operational and technical) to ensure material outputs satisfy customers requirements
• Set the strategic direction and short to mid-term production targets for the Underground Mines
• Ensure the business can make informed decisions by identifying, planning, and communicating extraction strategies, critical paths, and high risk areas as part of an iterative scenario planning process
• Manage underground short to medium term mine design, scheduling, and evaluation work, including the design of all aspects of an underground mine including ventilation, dewatering, backfill, electrical and other infrastructure
• Establish and maintain regular, clear, and concise communication with all stakeholders
• Preparation of budget plans and schedules
• Produce accurate, and timely, quarterly and monthly schedules aligned with the Business Plan and LoM Strategy
• Manage, support, and help grow planning team members for future success
• Develop and maintain mine planning systems and standards-aligned to Endeavours corporate processes as well as all applicable statutory requirements.

• Bachelor of Mining Engineering degree or equivalent
• At least 15 years of experience working in industry-leading safe and highly-productive mechanised hard-rock underground mines, with a majority of that time spent in technical roles
• Exposure to a variety of different underground stoping methods, scales and geometries
• Advanced technical proficiency in mine design, stope optimisation and mine scheduling using Deswik  (preferred), Datamine/EPS, or equivalent tools.
• Advanced technical proficiency in underground mine production engineering and infrastructure design
• Advanced scheduling skills for short-, medium- and long-term underground mine planning
• Advanced cost estimation and budgeting skills for mine operating and capital expenditure
• Advanced understanding of all commercial drivers for maximising the return on capital achieved through better mine planning
• Experience as Competent Person for signing off underground mine Ore Reserves statements
• Experience leading, mentoring & developing personnel in mining engineering and other technical disciplines
• Fluent in English with excellent report writing and presentation skills
• Expatriate experience, preferably in Africa
• Mine Managers Certificate of Competency or the requisite practical experience to be eligible to obtain one
• Project management experience involving operational improvement, technical studies, operational readiness and production ramp-ups
• Experience managing & administering underground mining contracts
• Further qualifications in management or mining economics/finance
• French language skills.
